Savewater Awards
Wimmera Native Nursery was a finalist in the Garden Management category of the 2005 Savewater awards.
Operating as more than just a wholesale and retail nursery, the Wimmera Native Nursery works to increase the acceptance of native plants as water friendly options for gardens in the Wimmera region.
"Our philosophy is that colourful, practical and functional gardens can be achieved with the use of little, if any, supplementary water and very little maintenance", says Mr Ted Brown, Manager Wimmera Native Nursery, who hosts G.W.M Water Sunday Gardening on local radio station 3WM at 9am each Sunday, to promote the benefits of low water gardens.
Wimmera Native Nursery is a key supporter and distributor of the Water Tube™, a unique self-watering plant guard that distributes only the amount of water needed by a plant until it becomes established. The Water Tube™ cuts the cost of watering by up to 75 per cent.
Specialising in plants suited to the dry climate, Wimmera Native Nursery in Dimboola has planted and landscaped many gardens, including the new Hopetoun Hospital that is expected to save around 4ML of water a year or 4 Olympic sized swimming pools.
