This
is a consulting job in Hong Kong with the KCRC (Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation) MTR (Mass
Transit Rail) in preserving a Ficus tree in a
construction site where an underground rail and
station was being constructed. Job was completed
in May 2005. This piece of work has won us a very
respectable reputation in Hong Kong, and the methodology
is now being copied around many major building
sites where precious trees are to be saved. |

Plant Related Building/Engineering Issues
This photo shows the problem of building damage allegedly caused by tree roots, clay soil shrinkage, footing subsidence. This phenomenon is characteristic in most Melbourne city and suburban areas, as well as occurring in other parts of Australia.
Dr Peter Yau (one of our team) has spent many years researching, investigating and dealing with these issues and problems since the early 1990's, together with Dr Roger Sands and Dr RK Misra at the University of Melbourne.
He has spoken at seminars to engineers and architects about this and Dr. Peter Yau is one of the only consultant arborists in Australia, who has expertise in this field. He has conducted many consulting jobs related to this type of investigation.
