ILLYARRIE (RED CAPPED GUM)- INSTRUCTIONS One of the most decorative Eucalypts. Bright red caps open to a 5cm spread of brilliant yellow stamens. Red buds and yellow stamens appear together for a magnificent display. Quick growing, small tree to 5m. Responds well to pruning........ WHEN TO SOW - In warm areas or in a glasshouse sow seeds at any time. In frost prone areas sow when danger of frost is over....... WHERE TO GROW - Full sun or shrubbery. Any well-drained soil type, including limestone. Prefers alkaline soil to start....... SOWING - Fill pot or seed tray with moist sandy soil, wet thoroughly and compress. Sow seeds on the surface and cover with soil to twice the thickness of the seeds. Add Wildflower Seed Starter liquid or granules to surface. Keep moist. Place in warm, shady position to germinate (about 15 days). Protect seedlings from slugs and snails....... CULTIVATION - Transplant to single containers when large enough to handle. Plant out at about 20cm high. Water in well and water regularly during the first Summer. Use a light application of organic or slow release fertiliser. Prune after flowering to desired shape and height. Contents - Approx. 10 - 15 seeds
